Boxing from Birth: Meet Julian Rabel

Boxing from Birth: Meet Julian Rabel
Day in and day out, Julian Rabel is hard at work. A constant presence in Miami's Lion Heart Boxing Gym, the young man is busy building skills and chasing dreams. An original member of GamePlan's athlete roster, we first met Julian as he battled some skincare issues due to the sweaty gear and hours he put into his craft. An avid user of GamePlan Post-Sweat Sport Cleansing Wipes, Julian's skin is clear, his confidence is high and his eye is on nothing but the prize.
Julian's goals are simple, yet extraordinary. With a dual fighting style of both South Paw and Orthodox, Julian's got his eyes set on the Olympics. Something he's still got at least ten years to get to. After that? He wants to be a world champion. Goals that may seem monumentally hard to achieve, but when you start training this early, and are already sparring and learning with former champions and full-blown grown men, you definitely give yourself an edge.
We asked Julian a few questions about what drives him forward, how he stays focused and how GamePlan has helped add to his advancement. For someone years away from learning how to drive, his answers have a universal power we all could learn from.
GamePlan: HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED?
Julian: By watching the pro boxers in my gym fight and taking notes of their skills. The more I watch the more I learn. I just have to put all the learning to good use.
GamePlan: HOW DO ROUTINES HELP YOU PERFORM?
Julian: Routines, consistency, all of that helps me get better and stronger because I’m doing the same stuff over and over. That's what makes me really good at it. Plus, routines make me feel ready and not so nervous.
GamePlan: DO YOU THINK ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH?
Julian: Mental health is important if you want to be successful because you need to stay focused at all times in order to make it. If your head is all messed up, your focus will follow. Confidence comes from a clear mind and all the preparation.
GamePlan: HOW DOES CONFIDENCE HELP YOU PERFORM BETTER?

Julian: When I’m confident, it’s like I’m wearing a superhero cape! It makes me feel like I can do anything, like dodge punches super fast and hit really hard. If I believe in myself, I’m not scared to try new moves or fight even harder. So, confidence helps me give my best punches and win more fights!

GamePlan: WHAT ADVICE WOULD YOU GIVE ASPIRING ATHLETES?
Julian: Practice a lot! If you wanna be the best at it, you gotta keep trying and getting better. Always listen to your coaches because they know a lot and want to help you. Have Fun! You’ll do better and want to keep going. And when you mess up, don’t worry! Just get back up, keep smiling, and try again.
If there's any advice GamePlan believes in, it's the above. If you're as big a fan of Julian as we are, follow his journey on Instagram at @juliandaprinnce and on TikTok at @juliandaprinncee.
